  • I will typically accept tattoos based on whether the design is aligned with my portfolio.

For inspiration, click here to view my Pinterest - this holds reference boards of work I’d like to do in the future!

I prefer to tattoo the following: anime/manga, cartoons, fan art (with permission), Japanese inspired masks, koi, serpents, textiles, strings / charms, florals, fine line, micro realism (larger than 1 inch), half or full arm sleeves, backs

I do not tattoo the following: face/neck, fingers/hands (in most cases), feet, genital areas, single word tattoos / tattoos smaller than 1 inch (unless you want to pay my minimum for a small tattoo), cultural symbols or foreign languages that the client does not share / understand, hate symbols, other people’s existing tattoos

I will not copy existing designs / tattoos without a “tattoo ticket” or permission from the original artist. An exception to this rule is official artwork from widely popular manga, anime, and cartoons. For a unique piece, I recommend looking into official variant arts, manga covers, and special releases from the creators of the series you like.

Pieces that allow some creative freedom and consider my professional experience will have best results — I may make design suggestions to improve the longevity, readability and overall quality of your tattoo.

For custom designs, I require a additional non-refundable drawing fee to begin designing — this covers my time spent designing if you decide not to move forward with the tattoo. My custom drawing fee is typically $150, or $300 if the scale of the design work will require more than 10hrs. For large-scale work, composition sketches will be shown typically 5-10 days prior to your session to confirm the design concept and avoid redrawing. If major changes are requested after completing the design, an additional drawing deposit may be required before proceeding if the scope of the additional work would exceed 1-2hrs.

I typically schedule an additional 30 minutes at the beginning of each session to allow time to adjust your design together and try on multiple placements if needed. If for any reason you are unsatisfied with your tattoo design, you will never be pressured to move forward - designs should never come as a surprise, since I tailor them exactly to your requests, ask questions, and often provide previews. To ensure the best design outcome, please be intentional with your references and be sure to include any important details you want to see in your design.

  • I may provide one complimentary touch up within the first year of your tattoo.

Complimentary touch-ups will not apply in the case of poor aftercare or normal levels of fading. If your tattoo requires extensive touch-ups due to poor aftercare or sun damage, a discounted touch-up rate of $50/hr may apply. If you would like an older tattoo revitalized entirely, you will need to book an appointment time that properly covers the scope of the work.

Touch ups are only recommended for cases where it is artistically necessary - it is normal for tattoos to fade and change slightly as they integrate into your body and age. To avoid needing additional touch ups in the future, it’s important to invest in a good sunscreen and (once healed) begin applying it regularly to take care of your tattoos and avoid any future fading.

Wondering what to expect from your healed tattoo? Click here and check out my “healed” highlight on Instagram.

To request a touch up, click here or email me at mochitattoos@gmail.com with the subject “Touch-Up.”

If you use Instagram, you may also DM me directly for a touch up - be advised that if we haven’t messaged before, message requests sometimes get buried in my “hidden request” folder, in which case it will be quicker to email me directly. Please include well-lit photos of your healed tattoo with your message, and what you’d like to touch up.

  • Upon booking, I require a non-refundable deposit to secure your appointment. The deposit is typically $150 per session, or $500 for large projects requiring many sessions. Your deposit will be applied to the cost of your tattoo at the end of the final session. If you need to cancel or reschedule any session with 2 weeks notice, you will have a month to rebook and apply the deposit toward a future sessions. Exceptions are made for genuine emergencies.

For custom tattoo designs, there is an additional $150 drawing fee to begin design work—this covers my time spent researching and drawing for your tattoo in the event that you do not move forward with for any reason. The drawing fee does not apply toward the cost of your tattoo sessions.

I will provide instructions for sending your deposit upon confirmation of booking. All deposits are non-refundable.

On the day of your appointment, cash payments are highly preferred, with Zelle being next best. Now accepting credit or debit cards with a 3% processing fee - yay for cash back rewards, we love options!

Tips are totally optional; never expected, but always appreciated. I often get asked what a typical tip looks like for a tattoo appointment — most clients prefer to tip 15-20% on average — however this is certainly not a rule and not expected. If you’d like to leave a tip for your service, any amount of your choosing will be greatly appreciated. If you are not able to leave a tip, that is totally understood and I am still grateful for your patronage! If you feel very compelled to tip in a non-cash way, I do love small tokens, notes, knick-knacks, stickers, hugs, friendship, etc.

Why do people tip their tattoo artists? Let’s answer the age-old question! Depending on the city your artist is operating in, the cost of studio rent and services can be very pricey. More often than not, your tattoo artist is likely only taking home about 30-40% of the cost of your tattoo after booth fees, licensing fees, supplies, and taxes. Tattoo artists are also considered independent contractors in the state of California, responsible for providing our own health insurance and retirement investments — these are very important, as tattooing becomes more difficult on the body with age. Again, tipping is not a rule and not expected, but it is greatly appreciated! It means the world when clients want to help support a healthy life balance for their artist, and it helps keep us working for many years!
